It is a fact that mine management needs to keep track of the company’s Personnel and Assets, they endeavour to then improve their security, efficiency, productivity and reduce the possible effects of an emergency event. They would normally have to install several different systems and then attempt to integrate them, typically leading to a multi-supplier/maintainer situation.

Up until now, management would have to consider several separate systems to achieve all the above. That was until XTAG, a single system that can cost effectively achieve it all!

XTAG is a long range active tagging system that utilises a credit card size RF/ID (Radio Frequency Identification tag), which has an inbuilt battery to power them for up to 5 years. The tags can be read up to 50m away from a tag reader, to identify the user or narrowed down to under 3m when required. The Xtag is small, lightweight, robust and can be incorporated into work clothing, worn on a belt or combined into a photo ID badge.

Xtags can be used to gain access through doors, boom gates, turnstiles etc. Xtag readers can be set up to monitor “gateways” and allow or deny access dependant on access rights or the safety situation. Another part of the same system can monitor an area above or below ground to constantly report the individuals that are in that area and their status.

XTAG’s can be used for personnel, and any asset, vehicles, large tools, computers etc and come with several options including life signs and anti tamper monitoring. The whole system is very flexible and can accommodate all situations.

The standard XTAG software package can be integrated with other database programs and modified to suit individual mine requirements.
