Question: What is Xtag?
Xtag is a combination of electronic radio emitting tags and a series of intelligent
digital radio receivers allowing the locations of tagged personnel, assets and stock
to be attained; additionally control of electrically locked doors/barriers can also be
achieved efficiently.
Question: How does it work?
Each receiver is allocated an area i.e. reception, factory floor, fire escape etc. as
tags are moved within the building the data received is used to produce reports on present
locations of all tagged personnel, assets, stock etc.
Question: How would we use this information?
The information could be used for health and safety emergency situations
by producing continuous real time locations of all personnel, this information
is invaluable during emergency evacuation situations.
Preventing personnel from entering hazardous areas by means of intelligent access control.
Continuous real time stock control up dates on high cost units.
High and low security situations by monitoring all personnel movements.
Time in attendance information for salary generation as Xtag would supersede all existing systems.
Question: Is it expensive?

Question: Is the end user software difficult to learn.
Xtag end user software can be taught to personnel with the very basic of computer skills.
As historical data is stored reports can be generated on any number of fields creating a
powerful tool in today's competitive market place.
Question: What ongoing costs are there.
The batteries within the tags last three years so initial set up cost can be written
down over that period. The software licence is renewable annually, which includes phone
cover back up and software updates.
Question: How reliable is the technology
Xtag systems are state of the art digital electronic devices manufactured within a quality
system complying with ISO9000. Each intelligent tag contains a safety check device that
looks at itself to confirm battery ok and program running ok. As the batteries come closer
to the end of there three year life span they send a signal to the operating PC to alert
staff that the tag will need changing. If the tag processor fails for whatever reason i.e.
electrical outside influences the tag contains an automatic reboot chip.
Question: Is Xtag a RFID product?
Xtag can be classed as an Ultra Long Range Active RFID product. Xtag solutions offer advantages
over traditional active/passive RFID solutions (where the tag is passive and the reader is active).
Xtag tags are continually active, issuing a beacon signal approximately every 2 seconds; this ensures
that all the tags are monitored and the Xtag software can immediately show events such as tag
tampering, low battery warnings or the current location of any one of the tags at any given time.
